Financial Management and Accounting are two of the most important practices of management. This certificate program will help the student understand the basic practices in financial management and accounting; while building the basic systems and practices needed in a healthy organization. Organizational leaders and managers develop skills in accounting and financial management. Expecting others within or outside the organization to manage finances is clearly asking for trouble. This certificate program is designed to provide organizational leaders and managers with skills in financial management, critical areas of cash management and booking, which must be done according to certain financial controls to ensure integrity in the accounting process. The program will teach students how to generate financial statements (from booking journals) and analyze those statements to really understand the financial condition of the organization. Financial analysis shows the reality of the situation of the organization at a certain time or period.
Note: Plans are to discontinue this program beginning Fall 2015. Students currently in the program will be allowed to graduate as long as they complete the certificate by the end of summer session 2016.
