The associate degree in management prepares students for entry-level managerial positions. The program includes a core curriculum and a choice of six areas of concentration: administrative management, asset management, business management, health care management, hospitality management, and marketing management. The administrative management concentration enables students to integrate courses from various disciplines into a comprehensive approach to business or technology. The asset management concentration emphasizes the functions typically performed by bank managers, accounting managers, and risk managers: management of the financial and managerial accounting functions; systems for safeguarding of assets and establishment of transaction authority; cash management methods, credit policy, and collection methods; principles of insurance and risk reduction techniques; short-term and long-term financing vehicles. The business management concentration prepares students for employment in such positions as salesperson, assistant accountant, apartment building manager, or management assistant. The health care management concentration provides a foundation for managerial tasks specifically geared to the health care industry. The hospitality management concentration is designed to prepare students who want to work in the travel, tourism, and hospitality industry. The marketing management curriculum emphasizes marketing strategies to improve relationships with customers.
