Care and Development of Young Children, AS

The associate of science degree in the care and development of young children prepares students for employment in the early childhood education field. They also have the option to transfer to a senior college to complete a baccalaureate degree. The degree includes core courses, a sequence of professional courses, and a supervised practicum. The goal of the program is to prepare knowledgeable and competent professionals who possess and demonstrate an understanding of developmentally appropriate teaching and learning, of childhood development, of curriculum development and implementation, of the role of the family and community in children’s development, and of assessment.

* The choice of MATH 1021  or MATH 1017 is based on the subsequent math course. The appropriate sequence is MATH 1021  followed by MATH 1425  or MATH 1017 followed by MATH 1018 .
