Technical Programs in Medical and Health Services

The health care industry needs employees in a variety of positions that involve processing and managing information to keep patient records, handle billing, and complete insurance claims. Employees must be familiar with medical terminology and coding and must know the correct procedures to manage medical and health information efficiently. The Division of Health Sciences and Business Technology offers a diploma and certificate in the medical and health services field.

Note: Plans are to discontinue this prorgam beginning Fall 2015.  Students currently in the program will be allowed to graduate as long as they complete the certificate by the end of summer session 2016.

Technical Competency Areas

Four technical competency areas are available with sequences of courses in medical billing, coding, and transcription. Courses from the competency areas may be applied toward a Certificate of Technical Studies in Medical Records and Health Information Technology .
