SURT 1001 - Introduction to Surgical Technology

Introduction to Surgical Technology introduces fundamental concepts and theory central to surgical technology as a profession. Ethical and legal components associated with surgery, including surgical pharmacology and anesthesia. Emphasis is placed on organization of the operating room, infection control, surgical supplies, medical communication, basic surgical routines and basic patient care concepts.

Prerequisite(s): Selective admission into the Surgical Technology Program. Grade of “C” or better in all Pre-requisite courses.
Corequisite(s): SURT 1003 , SURT 1104 , and SURT 1103
